Star Wars Collecting Guide 101

The 101 Guide

Two generations have now begun collecting action figures. Someone who saw each movie on the first day of release and would stand in front of a toy store display hoping to find rare action figures now has children who have collected action figures from Star Wars 1, 2, and 3. The animated movie and the cartoon network series prompt a new generation of collectors. There are steps for the young and old to expand their collections.

The Basics in Collecting

AFA (Action Figure Authority) Graded

This will be a Factory Retail Carded or Boxed Sealed Figure/Toy in a variety of grades, which will be listed. HIGHLY collectible item, which has been professionally graded by The Action Figure Authority AFA. They are professionally cased, serial numbered and ready for your collection.  We will describe these collectible cased figures as AFA ** NOTE ** You may see that the AFA pictures shown are a bit "fuzzy". This is because when received from the Grading company, it is enclosed in a ©Mylar bag for protection.  We do not remove it from this bag.  Some AFA's we purchase from other collector's which have been removed from the ©Mylar bag, so we take the photo's without the bag.

MOC/MIP/MIB (Mint on Card, Mint in Pack or Mint in Box) Mint, Near Mint

This will be a Factory Retail Carded or Boxed Sealed Figure/Toy in Mint/Near Mint condition. Can be displayed and highly collectible.  Product description will usually state "New Unopened Factory Sealed" when item is in these conditions. Please note that vintage (1977-1986) conditions can have cardback edge wear, blister crushing or light creasing and still be considered MOC/MIP/MOB because of there age.

New on Cardback w/retail price sticker or shelfwear

This will be a Factory Retail Carded or Boxed Sealed Figure/Toy that may have one or more of the following: shelfwear, creases, bends, blister crushing, price sticker residue or sticker tear.  These are for the collector that is just interested in the Mint Figure only for display. Again, vintage (1977-1986) conditions (as shown in pic) can have cardback edge wear, blister crushing or light creasing and still be considered MOC/MIP/MOB because of there age.

Vintage, Used, Loose

If a listing has the following description: "Loose, Used or no retail packaging" Then it is available as a Collectible, Used or Loose Figure. Collectibles in this category are not MOC (Mint on Card) or MIB (Mint in Box) condition. They can be 100% factory sealed, but have significant shelfwear. Or they can have no retail packaging at all. They also can be opened boxed items, damaged or crushed "outer" packaging or fully loose, but the Figure WILL BE MINT (unless "loose" and otherwise noted) These are for the collector that is just interested in the Mint Figure only for display and is not interested in the cardback, box or packaging.

Please READ THE PRODUCT DESCRIPTION before ordering. We have a large selection of "Vintage" collectibles in various conditions. We will describe the collectible as best as possible, listing all details of grading.
