Return of the Jedi - General Madine. This figure first appeared on the Return Of The Jedi 65 back card. Ironic story about our good General Madine? When Return Of The Jedi was being filmed, this character played a large part in the space battle over the forest moon of Endor. Unfortunately for Kenner, that portion of the story, for whatever reason, found its way to the cutting room floor well after the toymakers began production on the figure; creating one heck of a peg warmer. Ironically, Hasbro kept that in mind and stayed far away from the bearded rebel leader in the spiffy gray uniform, and every collector of the modern line wants him? Though all vintage figures have minor variations, the General Madine figure has a few interesting variations. Madine was produce with heads moulded in both gray and flesh coloured plastics. As such, there are two distinctly different spray ops to be found. The gray Moulded head had ?flesh? coloured paint applied to the face, where the Flesh Coloured head had spray ops applied to the hair and beard. There is also a colour variation on the Flesh Moulded heads. Where most figures with this head sported gray spray ops, some were produced with green paint. Since this was one of the many figures produced with the removable style head that Kenner favoured using in most post Star Wars figures, it is virtually impossible to say than any of these variations were exclusive to any country or body variation. Where as the mast majority of limbs produced for this figure were moulded in gray, there are some that were moulded in black. Therefore different spray ops were applied to keep with the figure?s intended design. To date all known examples of the Black moulded limbs figure originate from Taiwan, though it is possible that this version could also have been produced elsewhere as well. So far there are no known examples with a mixture of gray and black moulded limbs, but it should not be ruled out that such a thing could exist.
